PROJECT BRIEF
Quinn Johnston needed a unique luxury package design solution for their client holiday gift set of spices and sauces, that would be both functional and aesthetically memorable.

STRATEGY
We wanted to take a traditional occasion for sending gifts, promotions, and greetings to a new depth... transforming everyday items into something noteworthy. For this project, we knew we needed a custom designed box that was both functional, but also felt special when first spotted.

The goal was to create a cause to stop and look, and make a lasting impression with the packaging experience -- in the industry, we call it experiential package design, where the un-boxing process is a pleasant surprise and just as carefully planned out as the actual contents. Experiential package design helps create a stronger connection with the product and brand, as well as build anticipation for what's inside the package, perfect for those special projects or occasions.

THE DESIGN
Inspired by Quinn's photo of its building used in recent branding efforts, we incorporated it as the focal point of a reinterpreted vintage cigar box design. The wintry color palette was chosen to celebrate the winter season, as well as compliment Quinn Johnston's existing branding. Custom lettering, illustration, and patterns were created just for this piece, in order to create a cohesive look and feel. The cherry on top? A foil stamped box seal just like those found on old box seals, incorporating QJ branding, the year, and fun copy "Enjoy a Little Holiday Heat." 

PRODUCTION
This custom box was printed on Greyback adhesive, wrapped onto cardboard sheets, and cut and scored by our Zund machine. We also designed a custom fit inset tray that securely housed the bottles and jars within the box, which was also produced in-house. Boxes and trays were then hand-assembled, packed, sealed with the foil stamp labels, and out the door in no time!
